Good points about commenting on blog posts. As you mentioned, use a backlink to your blog with a related post of your and you can do that with the commentluv plugin you are using. It shows your latest link, but you can choose which link you want to use by clicking the down arrow and choosing the post you want. There are many reasons why someone might post a comment, some of which may not be as good as others (example: simply for SEO backlinks). But you’re right, comments should be well thought out like a blog post.

I like Mike’s comment above, that’s a great idea to share what you think about someone else’s post.

You’re right about considering the reason that you want to leave a comment on a blog. I think one reason is to let the blog owner know that you appreciate what he had to say on the particular subject.
